Most people don’t think “data” when cooking, but does a data-driven approach make sense? This project takes the data world’s “parts to a whole” relationship and applies it to Ilana’s watermelon salad. Rather than relying on strict measurements, cooks use a visualization as their guide to adding and combining ingredients.

 

As a young chef on the rise, Ilana is always finding opportunities to share her cooking skills and WOW dinner party attendees. We collaborated on this project so Ilana could easily share some of her work with these folks. What better way to advocate for stellar culinary skills than with a set of stationery based on her work? We paired Ilana’s recipe with original watercolor prints and a simple, useful data visualization.
